Upgrading your computer’s storage is simple with the Samsung 860 Evo 1TB SSD. In this guide, we’ll show you how to install the SSD, initialize it, and use Samsung’s Data Migration software to clone your old drive for a seamless upgrade.
The first step is to physically install the Samsung 860 Evo into your computer. If you’re replacing an older SSD like the Samsung 840 250GB, this will provide more storage, faster speeds, and improved reliability.
Once installed, the drive won’t appear in Windows until you initialize it.
To initialize the new SSD, follow these steps:
diskmgmt.msc, then hit Enter. After this, your new SSD will appear in Windows File Explorer and is ready for data transfer.
Samsung’s Data Migration Software makes cloning incredibly easy. Download and install the software from Samsung’s website, then:
The cloning process for a 250GB drive typically takes around 30-40 minutes.
Once cloning is complete, power off your system. Remove the old SSD and replace it with the new Samsung 860 Evo. Boot up your PC, and your operating system, files, and settings should all appear exactly as they were.
Upgrading to the Samsung 860 Evo 1TB SSD is an easy and worthwhile investment if you need more space and faster performance. With Samsung’s reliable cloning software and easy installation process, anyone can complete this upgrade in under an hour.
