so how important is the location of your network devices within your network panel you're going to find out next on the ultimate tech hub [Music] so guys the question is how important is your location of your network devices within your network panel and the answer is it's very important and one reason is heat you want to have all your hot devices to give up a lot of heat they should be installed at the bottom of your panel and the reason is the heat can disperse up and out evenly if these devices are at the top of your panel that heat can't go anywhere it's trapped and he is not good for network devices [Music] all right so here's my network panel and i want to show you three devices that give out the most heat in this panel the first device our modem this is our fiber modem it gives off quite a bit of heat second device is our cloud this is our nas and it gives off quite a bit of heat and our third device is our ruckus icx managed switch and you're probably saying hey why didn't you install it down here uh the main reason why is we didn't have enough room and the way i wanted to set this up is i want to have a little break in between the hot devices you don't want all of them kind of crowded together too much and the location here is good because above the switch there's literally at least 12 inches of space for that heat to radiate out the next thing i want to talk about is the location of our switch this is our tp-link 8-port switch and the reason why we have it down below and not up top is because this is kind of a central place for all of our cat6 wires to come in at once you can see them all come in it's a good location and the heat coming off of these devices will just bypass the switch this doesn't get hot at all but it's a good place for everything to meet up at one spot okay guys the last thing i want to talk about are the devices that are up top of the panel now there's four devices up here i've got lutron smart bridge pro i've got a smartthings hub and a kivo plus also i have an hdmi converter all four of these devices give off very little heat probably this gives off more heat than anything but it's not really not much so it it's good to have your less your devices up here they give off the less amount of heat well guys we're all done here i hope you understand how important your network device placement is in your network panel and remember if you like these videos give a thumbs up and share it if you love it hit subscribe to keep this channel alive thanks again for watching you
