Install & Review of XM Cozy Plus RGBW Smart String Lights

[Music] what's going on guys welcome back to another video today we're going to take a look at another outdoor lighting solution this is a 98 foot 30 light rgbw smart streamlight set from a company called xm cozy now let's go outside and take a look at the location of our installation and guys remember if you enjoy these videos make sure you hit subscribe and we have hundreds of videos just like this one we'll start the light string in this corner and then work our way up the roof line to the top and then down the roof line to the bottom and because the span of the roof line is about 60 feet we have an extra 38 feet and we'll wrap that around the side of the house and this extra 38 feet will provide light to the side of the house that is usually very dark at night and if our calculations are correct these lights will span all the way to the air conditioner and these lights should add a lot of character to the side of the house and of course with the different light settings we can have christmas lights patriotic lights halloween lights st patrick's lights the light possibilities are really endless it's really amazing how lights can change a backyard so now let's go ahead and unbox the lights these smart string lights can be controlled with an android or an iphone and with this wireless control you control these lights from anywhere even when you're not home and you can set up two color combinations and various scenes like christmas and patriotic and different effect modes in my favorite feature is you can schedule the lights to go on and off whenever you want and these lights are expandable up to 144 feet and these lights have an ip65 waterproof rating and the price for this kit is 139.99 and the 49 foot kit is 79.99 let's open the box and see what's inside all the lights come connected together in one strand however these are two strands connected together so after the 15th light you can unscrew it to shorten the span to only 15 lights which is pretty cool and this is the user manual and this is 98 feet of steel guide wire and two turn buckles and i'll talk about that later in the video and that's all you get with this light kit and of course the link will be in the description below to where you can buy this light kit i highly recommend before you install these lights you want to unravel all the lights to make sure none of the bulbs are broken and check the wires too for any kind of cuts or damage and then after that you want to plug it in and make sure each light is working and then you have two options you can first download the xm cozy app and then connect the lights to your home network and then pair it to your app or the second option you can go ahead and install the lights first and then afterwards plug it in and connect to your network and then to your app just make sure wherever you install these lights that you have a covered area for that black control box it's best to keep it out of the elements as much as possible and we'll go ahead and check every light to make sure they're not broken all right to give you an idea how long 98 feet is and 30 lights we're going to start here i'll show you how long this is so you can see how much area this is going to cover there's a lot of lights and you can see 98 feet of lights is a heck of a lot of lights and there it is there's a ton of lights and nice thing about this we can add more lights to the end if you want so you have another one here so i can always add more and also it's a good idea to plug it in real quick and test all the lights and make sure they're all working so far they're all blinking at red so that means they're on that one's working so far everyone's working the tools that we need for our installation is a ladder a drill with a small drill bit and some small hooks about 30 of them we'll hang the lights on these hooks and the length from each bulb to bulb is about 3.12 inches and we'll space our hooks accordingly so here's the installation of our first hook in that black box will be secured in this area as well all right so we got here to here this one is three feet and then we'll go from here to the next one three and then keep going all right guys now we have three hooks one two three and then we try to do the fourth one before i get the large ladder so i was able to secure the fourth hook with this ladder but now i gotta bring out the big guns the 24 foot ladder and my friend aaron at optimum window cleaning was kind enough to let me borrow his ladder and aaron's company cleans window screens solar screens and even solar panels and while i installed these lights aaron cleaned all my windows and it looked great so guys if you live in the las vegas area and you need your windows cleaned or your solar panels cleaned be channel and i like a challenge and just a heads up in some areas i wasn't able to use the hook so i used wire clips and i secured the wire clips into the wood with nails but the majority of the lights i was able to use the hooks and anywhere where the wire was hanging down i used the wire clips to tuck the wires away to kind of hide them just to give it a clean look and guys once again i want to this part was really easy and it went really fast and i think i used all hooks for the side of the house and the last light last one and once again i use the wire clips to tuck away and hide the end of the wire [Music] all right guys we're all done hanging the lights as you can see they're all on and they all look great it turned out better than i could have ever imagined now the last thing we have to do is secure that black controller box and get the wires kind of organized and tucked away and hidden all right like i said before we need to put this up here like this and i've got some double-sided sticky tape i'm going to use to mount this up here out of the elements you can keep it out of the elements also got some wire uh clips i can nail these this up here and secure it so everything will be kind of hidden behind here as well i'll push everything behind here okay the easiest way to secure that controller box is with double-sided sticky tape and this is gorilla brand which holds up to 30 pounds we're gonna use two pieces and this box ain't going anywhere and then after that we'll use wire clips to secure the wire and the extension cord and then we'll use zip ties to secure the extension cord to the pool heater pipe right there and guys we're all done with the install it looks clean and professional and luckily with our pool equipment we have an extra outlet on the side that we utilized for these lights and one more thing this light kit comes with 98 feet of stainless steel guide wire and for our install we didn't need it however if you're going to string these lights over a long span with no support in between the lights then this guy wire is a must for instance if i was going to install these lights from the back of my house all the way back to the retaining wall then i would have to use the guide wire because the guide wire would support all the lights okay now you need to install the app to control these lights simply download the xm cozy plus app and then create an account and set up your password next plug in your lights and the lights will blink red and now in the app go to add device and now connect your lights to your wi-fi network it has to be in the 2.4 gigahertz network and then once your lights connect to your network you're now ready to go and with this app you can connect multiple lights so now it's the moment we've all been waiting for let's test these lights i'm going to take you through all the scenes so sit back and enjoy and then afterwards i'll give you my review of the xm cozy plus lights okay this turns it off and on and here are the scenes there's nine of them and this one is strobe and this one is spade [Music] and this one is pulse and this is blink and this is one of my favorite scenes chase it's a really cool effect and we have christmas america the good old red white and blue [Music] in our custom two colors ours is set to halloween [Music] and the last one is multi which is every color another favorite of mine now to set up two custom colors hold down the button and now you can set two custom colors and ours is orange and green kind of the halloween theme and here's the settings for the plain white light you can make some adjustments as well and lastly you can pick a solid color from the color wheel and there's plenty of colors to choose from and another great feature about this app is the schedule feature you can set the lights to turn on and off anytime you want any day you want [Music] so guys after installing this light kit and setting up the app and going through all the
