  2. Remove the Black Cover: Gently pull up on the back black cover of the lock.
  3. Remove the Battery Cartridge: Pull the cartridge up from the back side of the lock to access the batteries.
  4. Replace the Batteries: Insert four new AA batteries. Average battery life is about 3 months, depending on use.
  5. Reinsert Components: Slide the battery cartridge back in and snap the black cover back on.

This is the Kevo from Kwikset, installed on Baldwin Evolved hardware. We’ve added the Kevo Plus upgrade, which allows remote operation from anywhere in the world—pretty amazing.

In today’s video, we’ll show you how to replace the batteries in your Kevo smart lock. While the lock can still be operated with a physical key, it also works with the Kevo mobile app for added convenience.

Let’s begin with identifying the battery location. First, remove the black cover by simply pulling it upward. Once the cover is off, pull up on the battery cartridge located at the back of the lock.

Now replace the old batteries with four new AA batteries. The general battery life is around three months, depending on your usage patterns.

After inserting the new batteries, slide the cartridge back into the lock and place the black cover back on top.

To test the installation, open the Kevo app on your phone. Select your lock, and tap to lock or unlock. If everything is functioning properly, the app should lock the door with no issues.
