Hi, I’m Mike—welcome back to the channel! Today, we’re installing this switch into a network panel. First, I made room by rearranging the panel layout. I mounted the switch using zip ties and connected it to:
After installation, you can choose how to manage the switch. Here are four options:
Option 1: Standalone Mode
Use your router’s network map to locate the switch’s IP address. Type it into a browser and log in with “admin” as the default username and password. Change these credentials right away. You can manage ports, name them, set QoS rules, and much more.
Option 2: Omada Software Controller
Download the Omada Desktop Controller. Use the setup wizard to create admin credentials and a TP-Link ID. Once installed, you’ll see your dashboard. If the switch shows as “pending,” connect it to complete setup and begin full management through the controller.
Option 3: Cloud Access
Enable Cloud Access in the dashboard and sign in with your TP-Link ID. Then, install the Omada app from the App Store or Google Play. You can now manage your switch—and other Omada devices—remotely from your phone.
Option 4: Hardware Controller
TP-Link offers the OC200 and OC300 hardware controllers. If you prefer this route, I’ve got linked videos that walk you through that setup. These controllers allow full Omada management across your entire network environment.
I’ve used many switches over the years, and this Jetstream model is now my favorite. It’s compact, packed with features, includes two fiber ports, and setup is incredibly user-friendly—no matter which method you use.
